A journalist observes life in the far north.
My friend, who lives near the Fairbanks airport, went to the Sarah Palin rally, which took place last night in an airplane hangar. The rally was Palin’s first in her home state since the announcement that she would run for vice president. My friend, who is a social conservative like Palin, described the rally as “electrifying.”
“I just kept thinking over and over how this small town Alaska girl is thrust into the national spotlight,” my friend said. “It could be any of us.”
