Murphy Dome Diaries

A journalist observes life in the far north.

A new day

The weather report is marginal but I’m hopeful we get on a plane to base camp and I get back in time to drive to Anchorage for a cocktail party.

Alec sounds better this morning than he has the last two mornings. The Texan, who is starting to sport a shaggy beard, said he feels good.

We plan to arrive at the airport early. Yesterday, the first plane got out and we want to make sure we are ready if it happens today.

The breakfast table conversation has turned to the film Food Inc.—probably not the best conversation moments before the arrival of a heaping plate of hot meat and potatoes.
